Our goal at Camp Van-Es is to help children explore faith in Jesus Christ in a natural setting. We offer a safe environment to experience God, to grow spiritually and, of course, to have fun!

Lord, we pray for all who are fighting against the spreading of the virus, especially for all victims of the virus, for the sick, and for all nurses, doctors and other medical staff working in the hospitals. We pray for the scientists working on finding vaccines and other medical solutions to the virus, and for peace and stability in all countries.

Located just 20 minutes southeast of Edmonton on 100 acres of wooded land on the shores of South Cooking Lake. See the location page for a map.

Summer Camps 2021

We are thrilled to announce that summer camps will be running at Van Es this year, though in a modified form. We will meet and, where appropriate, exceed provincial COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines.

Good Friday April 2, 2021

Self-Guided Prayer Walk 11 AM - 4 PM -- You are invited to enjoy a prayer walk through the trails of Camp Van Es on Good Friday. A self-guided walk will lead you through a Moravian adaptation of “the stations of the cross”, and there will be opportunities to complete a labyrinth and enjoy other forms of contemplative prayer. A pastor will be available to help you reflect on this experience, if you desire.

Good Friday Service -2 PM (In Person and Streamed) -- A Good Friday Service, using the Moravian Readings for Holy Week, will be held at Camp. Due to physical distancing protocols, we will limit this attendance to 25 people, seated. It will also be streamed. If you would like to register for this service, please do so here:

Camp Van-Es

With modern banquet facilities, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, an auditorium, a rustic and historic chapel, and miles of nature trails, we are well-equipped to host an excellent summer camp.

Founded in 1940, Camp Van-Es has been an important part of the ministry of the Moravian Church in Canada. Each summer, camps for grades 1 to 12+ are offered through the Moravian Church and are open to all children.

Our facilities are also available year-round for rental at reasonable rates and are ideal for:

  • Staff meetings and professional development days
  • Birthday parties using the indoor pool
  • Family reunions in the food services building and auditorium
  • Weddings in the chapel
  • Workshops and retreats
